Getting to Kauai

The main airport on the island is Lihue Airport (LIH). There are nonstop direct flights from some cities on the west coast, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Pheonix, and Seattle.

More common is to stop in Honolulu (HNL), to where there are flights from many cities on the mainland, and there you would connect on an inter-island flight to Lihue.

Eating on Kauai

There are plenty of great places to eat and dine, on the North Shore. Or, if you would rather stay in, cook, and enjoy your meal sitting on the lanai watching sunset, you buy your ingredients at the local grocery stores.

Bubba's Burgers
An old fashioned burger joint that has been around since the 1930's, Bubba's is a great place to stop for a satisfying meal.

Their steak and seafood are delicious, and the salad bar is a must.

Hanalei Dolphin
Some of the best fish on the island, the Hanalei Dolphin has been a top seafood restaurant on Kauai for decades.

Hanalei Gourmet
Serving fresh local produce, this place has a great deli, delicious salads, and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Kalypso's Island Bar and Grill
Asian fusion with great seafood and a can't-miss Happy Hour. Good sit-down restaurant for lunch or dinner. Oh, and don't forget to save room for their famous Grasshopper Pie!!

An indoor-outdoor cafe, this is a great Asian fusion place for lunch or dinner with fresh, delicious food.

Getting Around Kauai

The best option for getting around Kauai is a rental car. Renting a car will be the first thing to do upon arrival to the island. There are several rental car companies located right near Lihue Airport (LIH) with shuttles to and from.

You can usually find good deals on car rentals through your Frequent Flier account with an airline OR through Costco.
